Steeped in tradition and rich in sound, A Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Christmas returns this December, offering a spectacular evening of seasonal music in one of Dublin’s most iconic sacred spaces. Taking place on Friday, 19 December 2025, from 7:30‑9:30 pm, this concert brings together the Choristers and Lay Vicars of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Choir & Orchestra under the direction of Stuart Nicholson.
The programme is a feast for lovers of carols and classical choral works: expect selections from Handel’s Messiah, Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, and Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols. Audience participation features, with sing‑along carols accompanied by the Cathedral’s grand Willis organ, plus seasonal readings by broadcaster Bryan Dobson, and solo contributions from Jeffrey Ledwidge (bass) and Geraldine O’Doherty (principal harpist, RTÉCO).
The venue, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, offers dramatic acoustics, vaulted architecture, ancient stonework, and the glow of candlelight (or warm lighting at least) to set a deeply atmospheric mood. The event is family‑friendly and one of the highlights in Dublin’s Christmas music calendar. Tickets are around €35.
